Governmental Affairs
The Burke County Chamber of Commerce works closely
with governmental officials ranging from our Congressional leaders in
Washington down through the smallest communities in Burke County.
Representatives from many governmental agencies are actively involved on
Chamber committees and share their expertise as the Chamber and
government work hand in hand to better the community.
Chamber and business leaders have regular opportunities to meet with our
National and State representatives to insure that their concerns are
heard. Candidate forums are held each year prior to the general
elections where Chamber members and citizens can listen to candidates’
views as they decide who would best represent them in political office.
Each year, a delegation of interested business leaders travels to
Raleigh to attend the NCCBI Legislative Conference and to meet with its
local representatives.
Key legislative issues that affect business are highlighted regularly in
The Rock, the Chamber’s monthly newsletter that is circulated to
over 700 Chamber members and community leaders each month.
The Chamber Board addresses important issues head on by developing
resolutions and public statements that are communicated directly to
agencies that affect business matters in the area. |
