Connelly Springs
The first settler in the area was William Lewis
Connelly around 1838. The settlement was named Happy Home. Mineral water
was discovered in the area and through analysis it was found to have a
high content of Bi-Carbonate, believed to be beneficial in healing many
diseases. Visitors began to visit Happy Home to drink the water and the
Connelly Mineral Springs Hotel was built to accommodate them. The town
soon became a summer resort. The town was incorporated in 1920 as the
village of Connelly Springs. On April 7, 1930 the charter was revoked
but in 1989 the community was re-incorporated. Today, the town has grown
to 1,870 residents. A complete history and current information is
